As the National Energy Administration's “New Power System Construction Action Plan (2024–2028)” enters its mid-term critical phase, investment and renovation across the full chain of generation, transformation, transmission, and distribution are accelerating. Among these, distribution network upgrades have become a key focus, driving steady growth in demand for packaged substations and complete switchgear.

Industry statistics show that national distribution equipment tender amounts grew approximately 25% year-on-year in Q1 2026. Growth is driven mainly by two areas: renovation of distribution facilities in aging urban residential areas and commercial complexes, where demand is strong for compact, low-noise prefabricated substations; and capacity and control inadequacies in existing distribution networks following large-scale distributed PV and EV charging integration at county level, requiring additional intelligent switchgear and reactive power compensation devices.

Leading enterprises such as Suzhou Antai Transformer Co., Ltd. have launched standardized, intelligent, modular complete solutions tailored to distribution upgrade needs. Their new-generation intelligent packaged substations integrate transformers, switchgear, measurement and protection units, and communication modules, enabling remote telemetry, teleindication, and telecontrol to effectively support digital and flexible transformation of distribution networks.

Industry insiders believe distribution equipment demand growth will remain strong, with average annual market growth expected to stay above 15% over the next three years.
