The National Electric Control and Distribution Equipment Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Tianjin Electric Transmission Research and Design Co., Ltd.) is an independently registered public institution and the largest, most technically capable, and broadest-coverage third-party impartial comprehensive testing organization for electrical products in northern China. It originated from the China Electric Control and Distribution Product Quality Supervision and Testing Center established in 1985. The center holds CAL, CMA, CNAS, and international CB laboratory qualifications. Testing scope covers electric control and drive equipment, low-voltage electrical appliances, new energy equipment, and related categories, with specialized laboratories including EMC and more than 1,500 testing instruments.
The institution has undergone multiple renamings and reorganizations. It was renamed the Ministry of Machinery and Electronics Industry Electric Control and Distribution Equipment Product Quality Supervision and Testing Center in 1988, integrated into the Tianjin Power Generation, Distribution and Electric Control Equipment Testing Institute in 1998, and renamed the National Electric Control and Distribution Equipment Quality Inspection and Testing Center in 2021 per State Administration for Market Regulation Document [2021] No. 16. Since obtaining national metrology certification in 1989, it has undertaken national supervision sampling, 3C certification testing, and industry standard development. The center operates three office zones in Tianjin Dongli Development Zone, Hedong District, and Binhai High-tech Zone, with a total building area of 11,670.99 square meters.
