The National Electrical Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Suzhou Electrical Science Academy Co., Ltd.) was founded in 1965 and approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Machinery Industry Department in 1982 as the “Jiangsu Provincial Institute for Low- and High-voltage Electrical Appliances and Household Electrical Appliances.” After more than 50 years of development, it has become an independent third-party scientific research institution providing testing, calibration, standards intelligence, and testing equipment development services across low- and high-voltage electrical components, switchgear assemblies, power transformers, instrument transformers, reactors, capacitors, arresters, insulators, wind power equipment, solar PV systems, nuclear power equipment, marine electrical appliances, machine tool electrical appliances, explosion-proof electrical appliances, automotive electronics, EV batteries and charging connectors, lighting equipment, IT equipment, audio/video equipment, telecom terminal equipment, EMC, environment, seismic, hazardous substances, and related fields. It offers comprehensive one-stop testing services and ranks among China's most well-equipped, capable, and largest third-party electrical testing institutions.

Approved by MIIT, NEA, AQSIQ, and CNCA, the institute hosts national and industry quality inspection centers including the National Electrical Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center, National Smart Grid MV/HV Complete Equipment Quality Inspection and Testing Center, National Industrial Electrical Product Quality Control and Technology Evaluation Laboratory, National Energy Switchgear Evaluation Center, National Energy Transformer Evaluation Center, National SME Public Service Demonstration Platform, Machinery Industry Low- and High-voltage Electrical and Machine Tool Electrical Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center, Machinery Industry Automotive Electronics Quality Inspection and Testing Center, and Machinery Industry 26th Metrology and Testing Center Station. It is a designated CCC certification testing body, among the first national pollution control certification laboratories, an IECEE-CB laboratory and IECEx laboratory, and a contracted laboratory for CQC, CCS, UL, TÜV, INTERTEK, BV, SGS, and CEM. It is also an approved testing agency for State Grid and China Southern Power Grid primary equipment.
